Kataxu - In my dungeon

Kataxu - In my dungeonbanda: Kataxu Album: Hunger of Elements Full-length, 2005 genero: black metal track: In my dungeon temas: Paganism, NS, Darkness, Space Pais: polonia Piaty - Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Keyboards (Darkstorm, Sunwheel, Swastyka, Session for Cedamus) Melfas - Keyboards (Sunwheel) letra In My Dungeon! (Music and lyrics by Piaty, Keyboards by Jacek Melnicki) Rushing through dense forests of mountains and dells The rustling robes, and the hair made of wild waves of air A stoney palm, with a dreadful beauty, Clenches sharpening the shine of the orbits. Stimulated by thousands of fiery swamps, I feel the rhythym of the pulsating earth. Tongues rising up to the heavens - pulsating veins in rocky fissures. The flowers of scarlet, forming a mist ... the forging gleam of the aurora australis ... the winds of the Gods is within me! Ingenuous thoughts; lead me! I walk on the path of instinct - I grow with no impediment for future epochs. Nothing will stop my everlasting roam The winged praxis towards millions of gates I, the wind of the ancient world, create an alien touch amongst the two lights - The key to the immortal fog, and the encoded strength. "The mystery of blood - lies in us, children of the noble race..." "I, the wind! Recollecting the times of the shining Atlantis..." ...Many are already uncovered, and the road is thawed through the sunset in the West, but I dare to reach the unimaginable! The bourne is grand - through an abstract psyche, here is my frantic art I, the wind of time - create a dimension of undestructable thoughts The word 'keys' became firmer than the one forged into stone. Welcome to my rooted hemisphere of fire. I scatter the remains of the rouge layers I sharpen my instinct - and my feelings pierce through the barriers (behind the cosmos) Upon the rocks of the mountainous hemorrhages A symphony of the priest's dance ... Hate bursts out from the lips The crowns of the surrounding trees give notice - the dances in leafy robes shine ... in my hemisphere of fire Here is the only moment where the shine of dawn is rotten for the eyes. Here is my victory, the birth amongst chaos. You try to find me on your palm, wandering through the mountains, but your life lines are laid down in fear. I melt your tears, and your unwanted feelings In the line of cold hearts - like the spearhead of the One-Eyed God! Proficient and cunning in movement with the stars; I treat my victim with neglect. I long to strangle (it) with poetry, from within the deep blossoms. Here is the mad climax and the screaming rhythm when I melt the precious orbits ... an empty gift of life ... in my dungeon! My thoughts organised with a possessed laugh The explosions of the hating pulse - let them lead me through this hemisphere of fire I curse you, to burn in a fiery sacrifice! ... in my dungeon! The Northern course intensifies my strength Ascending the aurora australis - I douse my hands into the lakes of stars The mountainous swamps call - through the embers of sheared heads. Here is my homage to the mountainous blossoms - the ancient earth remembers Here is the rocky beginning - in the hands of the elements The hidden word - "keys" - within the human psyche.

VOICE - by Mark Oliveiro

VOICE - by Mark OliveiroVoice is an audio-visual exploration of a contemporary poem composed in one of the dominant languages of Eritrea, Tigrinya. The Haile text explores notions of freedom, nationalism and the power of language, speech and thought. Collages, clutterings and complex mosaics of stylized hand figures juxtapose murmurings of spoken poetry in an augmentation of the subtext. The raw and sometime erroneous nature of our impassioned languages is stylized heavily in this work with a multitude of processing effects including noise, strobe and analog effects. Montages of protest footage and layerings of other complex still and moving images ascribe to the poets notion of the freedom attributed to speech and poetry. Supporting the more tangible recitation of the poem near to the conclusion of the work, the Tigrinya written script, Geez, is featured increasingly in the images throughout the work.

Deep House Music: Was (Not Was) - Shake Your Head

Deep House Music: Was (Not Was) - Shake Your HeadThe Cosmic Lounge presents Deep House Music: 'Shake Your Head' by Was (Not Was). "Was (Not Was) is an eccentric pop group founded by David Weiss (a.k.a. David Was) and Don Fagenson (a.k.a. Don Was). (Don Was is also a famous producer, who has worked with The B-52's, Rolling Stones and many other artists.) Weiss and Fagenson were childhood friends who grew up together in suburban Detroit. Due largely to Fagenson's poverty, they decided to form Was (Not Was) in 1979. The name of the band was derived from Fagenson's son, who enjoyed contradicting words such as 'Blue' with 'Not Blue'. Their first recording was "Wheel Me Out", a 12-inch dance record for the avant-garde Ze Records. Their first album 'Was (Not Was)' (1981) was an amalgam of rock, disco, Weiss's beat poetry, Reagan-era commentary and jazz. On vocals they recruited Harry Bowens and "Sweet Pea" Atkinson, who proved to be distinctive, very soulful front-men, who frequently found themselves singing absurd, surreal songs alongside tender ballads. The MC5's Wayne Kramer (guitar) and The Knack's Doug Feiger (vocal) were guest players. Born to Laugh at Tornadoes (1983) introduced even more guest musicians, including Ozzy Osbourne rapping over electro, Mel Torme crooning an oddly beautiful ballad and an abstract funk piece "Man Vs the Empire Brain Building". The band were shortly dropped from their record label. In 1987, they found their biggest hit with the album What Up, Dog?, along with the singles "Walk The Dinosaur" and "Spy in the House of Love". Special guests include Stevie Salas, John Patitucci, Frank Sinatra Jr. and a writing credit for Elvis Costello. About this time, the Was Brothers developed separate careers as producers, film scorers and music supervisors. They followed up with Are You Okay? in 1990, a critically lauded album, spearheaded by a cover of Papa Was a Rolling Stone. Guest musicians were Iggy Pop, Leonard Cohen, The Roches and Syd Straw. After a tour with Dire Straits in 1992 and a Dance Hit Single "Shake Your Head", Weiss and Fagenson drifted apart and nothing was heard from Was (Not Was) but a compilation album Hello Dad... I'm In jail. Around this time, artist/animator Christoph Simon created videos to accompany some of their songs, such as "What Up Dog", "Dad I'm In Jail" and the Tom Waits-style "Earth to Doris". These have appeared on MTV's Liquid Television. In 1997, Steve Winwood released a tune which borrowed not just the title of Was (Not Was)'s single "Spy In the House of Love" but also the bass line and other elements. However, no lawsuits ensued (or were settled out of court.) In late 2004, Was (Not Was) re-formed and were back on stage for a two-month club tour through the Northeast and East Coast of the US, as well as California, Missouri, Ohio, Illinois (including stops at the House of Blues in Cleveland and Chicago), Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania (in the Trocadero in Philadelphia). In October 2005, they played four gigs at the Jazz Café in London. Detroit's Metro Times has described the band as "an endearing mess... ...a sausage factory of funk, rock, jazz and electronic dance music, all providing a boogie-down backdrop for a radical (and witty) political message of unbridled personal freedom and skepticism of authority." The band has announced they will be releasing a new studio album, Boo!, which includes many songs originally recorded in the 80's." http://www.last.fm/music/Was+(Not+Was)

Dimitri Kirsanoff - "Ménilmontant" (part 1/5)

Dimitri Kirsanoff - "Ménilmontant" (part 1/5)Estonian-born filmmaker Dimitri Kirsanoff emigrated to Paris with his parents in the early 1920s. There he trained as a musician, studying cello at the École Normale de Musique in Paris and playing music for silent films. He quickly became associated with the circle of young avant-garde ("impressionist") French filmmakers, and began making his own independently produced films on tiny budgets. These stylish, original, early films earned him a considerable critical reputation and were later deemed precursors of both French "poetic realism" and Italian neo-realism. Kirsanoff's first wife, the beautiful Nadia Sibirskaïa (born Jeanne Brunet in Redon, France, 1901), was the principal actress in most of his early films. (She also appeared in Jean Renoir's famous Crime of M. Lange (1935).) Kirsanoff's second wife, Monique Kirsanoff (b. 1913) is the editor of numerous French films. "Ménilmontant" (1925), Kirsanoff's second film, is also his best known. (His first film, "L'ironie du destin, " completed in 1923, is now lost). Kirsanoff not only directed, but co-photographed, edited, and produced the film for his own company. "Ménilmontant" was filmed during the winter of 1924-25, primarily on location in Ménilmontant, a poor working-class suburb on the eastern edge of Paris which gives the film its name. Originally entitled "Les cents pas" (The Hundred Steps), the film was at first rejected by Paris film distributors. It was subsequently picked up by film presenter Jean Tedesco for the second season of his series at the Vieux-Colombier theater, and came to be known as Ménilmontant. Kirsanoff's film helped assure the success of the Vieux-Colombier and soon became a major film on the ciné-club and specialized film circuit. Ménilmontant is in many ways a striking film, and has been described as "a nearly perfect work" (Georges Sadoul, Le Cinéma Français, 1962). Its story is told entirely in images, without the use of explanatory intertitles; Kirsanoff was among the very rare filmmakers of the silent era to attempt this. The film makes use of techniques such as montage, hand-held camera, ultra-rapid montage, and superposition to achieve the elusive, transcendent quality of "photogénie" so sought after by the French impressionist film directors of the era. Ménilmontant, thus, comes closer to poetry than to narrative prose. - David Badagnani Dimitri Kirsanov, a young Russian emigré who worked as a violinist in a Paris moviehouse, made one of the greatest of all experimental films... an exquisite, poetic 40-minute movie that is one of the least known masterpieces of the screen. Working by himself, apart from even the experimental filmmakers of the period, he developed a technique that suggests the movement known in painting as Futurism. The extra-ordinary editing is, at first, confusing and upsetting, and, finally, dazzling. The story is of two sisters who are both betrayed by the same man; the performance by Nadia Sibirskaïa as the younger of the two is surpassingly beautiful. In one scene she is seated on a park bench next to an old man who surreptitiously shares his food with her - it's as great as anything in Chaplin. - Pauline Kael The soundtrack by Das Exzentrische Filmorchester ('The Eccentric Filmorchestra') was recorded live during a screening in March 2007: Jürgen Kurz - grand piano Willi Kellers - drums Heiner Reinhardt - bass clarinet

Keith Douglas "Time Eating" Poem Animation Movie

Keith Douglas "Time Eating" Poem Animation MovieHeres a virtual movie of British Soldier Poet Keith Douglas reading "Time Eating". Theres a very English streak of gentility running through the poems of Keith Douglas (1920 - 1944) a young man alas who was never to be an old man who had gained more education than his alloted lifespan of just 24 years would seem to have made possible. Douglas like so many other of the war poets seemed to have lived his life with an urgency made all the more poignant by the dangers of seeing war and its ever present final result of sudden death first hand. This poem written by him in 1941 discusses how time has only one outcome to offer us as it takes us on a journey from the cradle to the grave. Regards.. Jim Clark All rights are reserved on this video sound recording copyright Jim Clark 2008 Time Eating Ravenous time has flowers for his food at autumn---yet can cleverly make good each petal: devours animals and men but for ten dead he can create ten If you enquire how secretly you've come to mansize from the bigness of a stone it will appear its his art made you rise so gradualy to your proper size But while he makes he eats; the very part where he began, even the elusive heart Times ruminative tongue will wash and slow juice masticate all flesh That volatile huge intestine holds material and abstract in its folds thought and ambition melt and even the world will alter, in that catholic curled belly But time, who ate my love, you cannot make such another. You who can remake the lizards tale and the bright snakeskin cannot, cannot that you gobbled in too quick; and though you brought me from a boy you can make no more of me, only destroy.

Commemoration Ceremony Abu Abdullah Rudaki

Commemoration Ceremony Abu Abdullah RudakiGood News Broadcast attended the Commemoration Ceremony on 1150th Anniversary of the birth of Abu Abdullah Rudaki. To watch the Ceremony please click on the following: http://webcast.un.org/ramgen/ondemand/specialevents/2008/se080618pm.rm we also share the text of His Excellency, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations and His Excellency, Ambassador Sirodjidin Aslov, Tajikistan speech at the UN and Art Exhibit.
"There is no joyfulness in this world greater than the vision of the friend's face; There is no bitterness upon the heart More than separation and distance from the friend." Rudaki
Secretary-General's remarks at commemoration ceremony on 1150th anniversary of the birth of Rudaki Ambassador Tanin of Afghanistan , Ambassador Khazaee of Iran , Ambassador Aslov of Tajikistan , Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, It's a great pleasure for me to participate in this special commemoration. Let me welcome to the United Nations all the distinguished scholars and artists who have come here to share your wisdom and talent with us. I am grateful to our hosts, the Permanent Representatives of Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran , for organizing this meaningful gathering. The fact that we are all here today, eleven and a half centuries after his death, speaks volumes about the enduring influence of Abu Abdullah Jafar ibn Mohammad Rudaki. How fitting that the United Nations, which stands for peace, development and human rights, should commemorate the life of this poet, who so beautifully extolled the virtues of good and justice. With simplicity and elegance, Rudaki pioneered a great tradition, laying the foundation for Persian classical literature. He took poetry from the realm of the abstract into contemporary life. And in the process, he shed new philosophical light on society. Rudaki is truly the "Sultan of Poets." Here at the United Nations, we are often so caught up in the day-to-day challenge of confronting crises that we rarely have the chance to reflect on the larger meaning of our work. Today's commemoration reminds us, through music, poetry and song, of the values that underpin all of our activities worldwide. This is all the more important as the UN strives to bridge the divides that separate cultures and nations. Rudaki's timeless and profound writings provide an inspiration for the Alliance of Civilizations, our initiative to counter extremism and heal the divisions that threaten our world. All of you here today are contributing to our broader cause of promoting tolerance across cultures. As Secretary-General, I feel humbled to be surrounded by such eminent scholars. I cede the floor to you with a pledge to carry the spirit of Rudaki's poetry in my heart, as I work on behalf of the United Nations in pursuit of our shared goals. Thank you very much.
